Storage

So we accomplished a huge milestone this weekend. We packed everything up that we're not taking with us on our adventures in Crested Butte and Steamboat and stored it all. The entire art collection save for a few travel-friendly pieces - and our entire furniture collection (which is really just a handmade bookshelf and coffee table). The sofa set sold yesterday... along with everything else that we're not taking with us.

We're quickly approaching escape velocity - MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO HERE WE COME!

By the way - I'm already popping first in Google for aerial photography of crested butte and crested butte aerial photography - hopefully I'll get some new clients!!

The Docs

Went to the dentist - no cavities.
Went to PT got a leg massage and pulsed ultrasound stimulation...mmmm
Went to the orthopod - looks like I'm cleared for to start on a bike this Friday!!

Yay for some good news!

Another weekend - another wedding

Jacob and Kerri were married this weekend in Blue Bell, PA - which I guess is better than Blue Ball, PA - although Blue Ball is much closer to Paradise and Intercourse, PA - but that's another story.

The reception was beautiful and the pictures from the private ceremony looked gorgeous as well.

It was good to be home for a bit to see the 'rents and to see the LCDS crew again. Solid group of high school friends for sure.

My knee was ok - hobbling around with Grammy's cane made it easier to be nice to it while still being fairly mobile.

Liz and I are smoothing out some rough spots as we make these huge transitions in our lives - nothing quite like quitting your job, leaving a city you've been in for almost 9 years, and moving to the mtns to cause a bit of stress in a relationship... on top of that add a smattering of knee surgery and a dollop of heart conditions - and then blend it all together with dreams and aspirations of Ski Patrol and the Peace Corps. Makes 2 heaping servings of stress. Excitement is the desert that we're slowly getting a taste of while packing our moving boxes.

So - we've got three piles started - one for everything that's coming with us - onf for the stuff we'd like to store - and the remainder that is being given away this coming Sunday.

Still haven't heard from The CB news or CB resort on either of my job applications.

The weekend

Not a bad weekend - albeit a lot of time was spent hobbling around on my bum knee. Shawn decided to fly in for the weekend to celebrate. The cause for celebration being that Jesse had his last day of corporate America (at least in the insurance industry on Friday) and Dan (Shawn's brother) had received a number of job offers just days after being laid off. Oh, and Liz and I had signed a lease for our place in Crested Butte - so defintely we all had good cause to celebrate.

We had a bbq at our house Saturday followed by an evening of debauchery in Denver. Sunday I had to get up way too early for an aerial photography flight of two obnoxiously large houses in Boulder (the house in the pic has it's own 3 hole golf course...) - followed by Poker and margaritas with the guys at Dan's.

Had my first PT appointment this morning and now my knee hurts... BLTHHH

The Scope

Here are the images from the scope of my knee... fun stuff.
The top right circle of Scope 1 shows Plica that was removed (bottom right circle of scope 1 shows the area after its removal).

Scope 2 top left obviously shows the torn meniscus - bottom left of scope 2 shows the repaired tissue.

Scope 3 bottom right shows my ACL - it's normal.

The return from the knife

So Friday was a bad day... went in for surgery - oh how I hate waking up from anesthesia - but at least I woke up! Apparently the tear was bigger than we had initially thought. 1.5 inches along the exterior of the medial meniscus. Dr. Halbrecht (dressed in her alligator shoes) had to use two different types of sutures - one inside out and the other all-in. I'll have pictures from the scope of the inside of my knee tomorrow.

I slept the majority of the afternoon and don't remember much else. Slept well with the aid of percocets and the local pain blocker that she had given me. Saturday was a little less pleasant - the pain blocker was gone and the percocets weren't incredibly effective. Sunday was better, much better. Mom and Liz have been waiting on me hand on foot - which has been nice ;)

Today we went to the Cardiologist for a follow-up and then off to the orthopedic surgeon for the post-op. Both went well - the cardiologist said the same things over again and reviewed my ECG, stress test, and echocardiogram with me. He wants me to come back in 6 months to see if things have changed. If they have then I have cause for concern - if they haven't then I should be happy as a clam untill they put a pacemaker in when I'm 65... The orthopedic surgeon gave me my script for my PT which will start as soon as I can get in. I was finally able to take a shower this afternoon!! Oh to be clean.

Now we just have to decide how everything else is going to work with this newly developed handicap... no more mtn bike patrol for me. So I've applied to be one of the Recruiting managers for Crested Butte Mountain... figure I can do that with a bum knee.
