Mt. Avery Hike

Still no Cambodia - there are sooo many pictures of temples - it's hard to decide!

So this past Sunday we hiked up Mt. Avery just outside of the small mining town of Gothic - which is just NE of Crested Butte - a 15 minute drive or so. We brought the dogs and had an incredible time.

It's one of those peaks that you look at from the bottom and always dream of hiking to the top of it - it's got a shear red face that is unlike any mountain in the area - it's been beckoning since we moved here and we summited it on Sunday!

Once on top you could see all of the surrounding peaks including at least 3 of Colorado's fourteeners. It was a gorgeous day.

From what appears to be a very unbiased - non-partisan perspective, this website gives you a clearer idea of each party's economic policies.

Liz's Birthday Hike

Here are some pics from our lovely hike up to Scarp's Ridge on the 14th (Liz's Birthday - put it on your calendars ;)
http://picasaweb.google.com/mhewing/LizSBirthday08

We had a great time - the goal was to follow the ridge all the way to the top of Mt. Emmons (the mountain that overlooks town otherwise known as the Red Lady) - but alas the birthday girl sprained her ankle and we had to turn around early.

Regardless of the injury we had a blast and then we had Sushi followed with Cake and Ice cream - YUM!!

Happy Birthday Honey!

I'm still getting around to Cambodia and Bangkok - patience please... ;)

Fall Colors

We made it back just in time for some fall colors - we may have caught the peak on Kebler but most of the leaves in town were already gone...

Here's the link to some pics:

I know I know, I haven't even uploaded the last of the photos from Cambodia and Thailand... but there are SOO many of them - I'll get around to editing and all of that here soon!

More videos for our honeymoon!

Monkeys monkeying around in the Monkey Forest Sanctuary in Ubud Bali:

The Cecak Trance Dance (as seen by most people in the movie Baraka (if you haven't seen this movie you should add it to your netflix):

Scoot scooting on our scooter along the coast road on the way back to our hotel in Amed, Bali:

For those of you getting this in your inbox - remember that it's all being posted to http://www.mark-ewing.com

We're back! A few videos...

We're back in Crested Butte! It's been nice to be home - we've been readjusting for a week or so - getting used to the time change and the altitude. Our own bed and pillows have been great though! Seeing Charley for the first time was incredible! She was soooo excited to see us - we love her!!

Liz is back to work already at the clinic - meanwhile I'm assessing my options - Ski Patrol starts in less than a month and I've already signed up for a bunch of ambulance shifts - however - neither of those pay very well. So we'll see! May do some consulting for a search company or two. Meanwhile the aerial photography is still plugging along - it even made us some cash while we were away which is nice.

Here's a video from the Band of Horses show in Sydney - it was sold out but we waited in line and got tickets 6 and 7 of the 10 that they released at the door. It was a great show:

Here's a video of Liz getting kisses from the elephants in Chiang Mai Thailand!! FUN STUFF! What a crazy sensation to have elephant trunks kissing you!

Enjoy! I'll be posting more videos and more pics! Just what you were hoping for!!
