I uploaded a video of the town of Crested Butte's Mayor jumping off of a snow jump during the Mardi Gras parade - it was crazy. He built the jump out of wood - added snow attached it to his truck and drove it in the parade - the pit of fire adds to the "extremeness"... only in Crested Butte.
It's kinda big but it's pretty funny - it's in the media section on the right but can also be found here:

Al Johnson Telemark Uphill/Downhill

up to the top of a double diamond "Extreme" run and then telemarking down to the bottom - while the crowds cheer you on. It was Crested Butte at its finest. The costumes were amazing - Liz and mine were a bit ill-conceived being that we decided to compete in the race only the night before - (being that I don't really know how to telemark - I wasn't quite so sure about my fourth time ever being on a double diamond...) but we did it! It was a blast! Our friend Jesse won best female costume as a huge lizard - it was great. There was a pac man and ghosts - there was a fake finish line - there were so many creative costumes!!! The last picture shows the run we came down in front of the huge crowd...

Deloreans
In case you all didn't know - my friend Steve owns a Delorean. That's right - a stainless steel car. More can be found here: www.delorean.com - and no, this is not in any way or form in response to www.uvnu.net and their Website Rating Thingy's poor rating of www.mark-ewing.com - for I do not stoop to such levels as to boost my ratings by adding the word Delorean. Nope - I was planning on writing this post about Deloreans and how cool Deloreans are for days now and just hadn't gotten around to it. So believe you me - Delorean's are where it's at - you're not cool if you don't like Deloreans.
Word to Deloreans.

IV etc

So we finish our IV class tomorrow night - we had our first live "sticks" last night - both Liz and I were successful at starting an IV on the first try - and we even did them on eachother - nothing like making your honey bleed... Right. Needless to say we both have bruised arms today.
Liz and I will be the medical personnell for the Grand Traverse which will be alot of fun - it's a national race from Crested Butte to Aspen - it's grueling and we're honored to be on the medical support team for it. We'll be stationed at the Friend's Hut which is about halfway between Crested Butet and Aspen - and will require us to skin in on skis while carrying our medical supplies - should be an adventure.
Patrolling has been fun lately - warm sunny and busy. Hiked the peak the other day too... very nice.
Went horseback riding yesterday - it was a gorgeous ride down Spring Creek Canyon.

Liz rode the mechanical bull...
I think we have visitors this weekend to the tune of Liz's dad and her friend Maria and maybe 3 others?? We'll see.

Hello again
Returned from UT from my brother's surprise 30th birthday ski vacation - it was a blast - the snow was incredible and the company was great. Couldn't have asked for better conditions - 39" of snow fell while we were there. I'll be putting together a video once my new puter arrives.
Life in CO has been getting better - we got some of the snow that UT got - so that has dramatically improved the skiing.
Liz and I are working at our relationship which is good - we're going to have some pre-marital/relationship counseling tomorrow which I think will be great for us. I'm looking forward to it.
It's gotten warm here - the weather has been in the 40s and sunny - here comes spring. Though I'm hoping for a few more powder days before it's all said and done.
Colby and crew were here this weekend - it always fun to have house guests - so come on up!
Shot 3 properties from a helicopter while I was down in Denver - that was fun - always a sign that spring is coming when the aerial projects start picking up. Signed one today for a client with 43 buildings on the front range! Not too shabby.
Hope all is well out there...
