The Ring, The Parental Blessing, and The Fall of Walt

Two weeks later another trip to Steamboat and a trip to Breckenridge under our belts. We went to Steamboat over President's weekend and had incredible snow - to the tune of waist deep in the backcountry. The snow was so unbelievable - and yet the batteries on the camera had died... so you'll just have to believe me. But it did lend to the purchase of one of these: www.hoyttech.com and a miniDV Camcorder to match... I'm hoping to post some vids here after this weekend in Crested Butte.

While at Steamboat we got a chance to see the ring - it's gorgeous - and that's all I'll say about that for now.

I asked Liz's parents for her hand in marriage - whoa - and they both gave us their blessings. Pretty exciting time of life!! Liz's mom had to pull over - both had a tear in their eye - fun to think about adding a family as well - weird though too.

This past weekend we went to Breckenridge with Walt - here's a link to some pics of his digger: http://www.kodakgallery.com/I.jsp?c=14rdrxsi.6s6l3e0i&x=0&h=1&y=gsbpah

We leave tomorrow for the Butte - hopefully it'll snow - and hopefully the miniDV will show up in the mail tomorrow...

Steamboat - Round 1: Rocky Mountain High

We went to Steamboat this weekend for an early Valentine's day - Steamboat has received record snow this year - with over 330" - unfortunately none of it fell while we were there - and unfortunately the days before we were there it had warmed up and all of the snow was baked by the sun... Which then promptly froze in the 5 degree weather we had while we were there... BRRRR!! We had a great weekend though... Despite the John Denver tribute band that played nightly in the theater below our condo (which apparently was not sound proofed during construction) - it was mildly annoying and incredibly amusing.

The steamboat festival was going on over the weekend - which is when they fill main street with snow and then tow kids on skis behind horses! It was a blast to watch and reminded me of Freckles pulling us all around on sleds!

So - we had a blast on Saturday - didn't ski at all cause it was so bad... And so cold - but we did GO RING SHOPPING!! WOOHEE! We are having one custom designed... It should be beautiful - and functional. It's a tapered band that gets wider towards the top - white gold - with a pear shaped diamond embedded in the center of it... The stone won't stick out too much - for two reasons - 1. to not draw as much attention to it in Africa and 2. So that it won't get stuck on latex gloves....

We then went to Strawberry Park Hot Springs - which were absolutely amazing - despite the negative 10 degree weather.

We skied yesterday in what was one of the most beautiful Colorado blue sky days... and drove home the long way and caught the moon rising over the Mummy range. All in all - we had a great weekend together - it's good to be in love and to be in love with my best friend!
